Afetsi Awoonor, Managing Director of the Bulk Energy Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), has commended Kalibi Volleyball Club for earning Ghana a bronze medal at the 2025 Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) Zone 3 Championship, held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
Representing Ghana on the continental stage, Kalibi Volleyball Club battled through intense competition against clubs from five African nations—ultimately finishing third among 12 men’s and 8 women’s teams. The team officially presented their medal to BOST management on June 17, 2025.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Awoonor applauded the team's grit and performance but urged them to aim even higher, especially with Ghana set to host the next edition of the championship in 2026. “You have done well, but I would like to present the medal back to the team for you to know that you have a task ahead. Anytime you look at this medal, you should be reminded of your responsibility to strive harder for gold,” he stated.
Also in attendance was Bernard Mornah, founder of Kalibi Volleyball Club and former PNC flagbearer, who praised BOST for its continuous support. He revealed that despite language barriers during the tournament, particularly with French-speaking teams, the players persevered and brought home a podium finish. “The ladies managed to win all their group stage games,” Mornah shared, expressing optimism for an even better showing next year.
Kalibi Volleyball Club’s success is a testament to the growing strength of Ghanaian volleyball on the African stage and the positive impact of corporate sponsorship in sports.
